On February 1, 2021, Huatai Yongchuang (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. held its 2021 Science and Technology Conference via videoconference. The conference was chaired by Xue Gaifeng, Director of Scientific Research. Attendees included members of the company’s leadership, Zhang Xinxin (former President of the University of Science and Technology Beijing), deputy chief engineers, directors, the deputy director of the Design and Research Institute, heads of various departments and offices, all staff members of the Quality, Science and Technology Department, as well as research project leaders and project managers.

At the meeting, Wang Xiuhua, Director of the Department of Quality, Science and Technology, delivered a report on the science and technology work. She reviewed the achievements in scientific and technological innovation in 2020, summarized lessons learned, and outlined the work plan for 2021. The report clearly outlined objectives for project management, including emphasizing the project leader accountability system, improving the scientific and technological innovation management system, ensuring critical milestone results achieved for key research projects, and accelerating the commercialization of scientific and technological outcomes.

At this meeting, the draft “Measures for the Administration of Science and Technology Awards” was released for the first time, marking a decisive first step for the company in improving the management capacity and management system for the scientific and technological innovation.

The attending leaders and other participants offered suggestions and insights on the scientific and technological innovation, providing valuable input that set a practical course for future efforts in this area and aligned with current development needs.

General Manager Han Dong acknowledged the achievements made in scientific and technological innovation. He noted that, despite the heavy engineering workload, the company had advanced various research tasks as planned, in particular, the substantial progress achieved in all three key research projects. He summarized the characteristics of Huatai’s research projects, reaffirmed Huatai’s long-standing commitment to scientific research, and clarified that Huatai positioned itself as a science and technology innovation-driven enterprise. He also pointed out that, due to multiple factors such as the company’s development and heavy engineering workloads, the management of scientific and technological innovation must continue to prioritize the quality of research, strike a balance between engineering and research efforts, strengthen project approval management, encourage project leaders to be more proactive and maintain frequent communication, and continuously innovate management practices. He called for everyone to work diligently and practically while adapting to market demands, and expressed hope that the company would remain true to its original mission, accumulate greater strength over time, and solidify its leading position in the industry.

Zhang Xinxin, former president of the University of Science and Technology Beijing, spoke highly of this conference, noting that it struck the right balance between a sense of ceremony and practicality. She praised the conference for its pragmatic approach to gathering feedback from all parties and for fostering the exchange of ideas, which had further enriched the company’s scientific and technological atmosphere. President Zhang suggested that engineering designers actively participate in scientific research to broaden their horizons and stimulate their thinking, thereby refining technologies through attention to detail and enhancing the company’s profitability.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Chairman Xu Lie delivered an important speech. He began by acknowledging the success of the conference, noting that it had enhanced everyone’s understanding of scientific and technological innovation and reinforced their commitment to it. He emphasized the importance of scientific and technological innovation to Huatai’s development, stressed the need to identify and resolve issues in management, and called for the development of a proper approach tailored to the company’s specific needs in the area of scientific and technological innovation management. He also noted that the meeting marked an excellent start in terms of fostering a culture of democracy. Second, he concluded that innovative technology was the key factor in the company’s growth and strength. In light of the company’s future direction of expanding from existing businesses into extended services and production sectors, he stressed that the long-term plan for scientific and technological innovation must be closely integrated with the company’s overall strategy, relying on independent technological innovation to generate greater economic benefits for the company. Finally, he emphasized that the path to the company’s scientific and technological development lies in forming strategic alliances with strong partners, fully leveraging both internal and external resources to advance Huatai’s research and development, and adopting efficient methods such as drawing on resources from other industries and leadership, to drive the company’s growth. The Quality, Science and Technology Department is expected to be proactive in taking on responsibilities, identify the right approach, and effectively organize its scientific and technological work.
